What To Expect When Working With A Professional Resume Writer
If you’re new to working with a professional resume writer, there is no reason to feel uncertain. Below is the process we use for our executive and federal resume writing services.

Will Rebecca write my resume?
Yes – I do all of my own writing, and I answer my own phone. I don’t use a virtual assistant, and I don’t have a staff of less experienced writers.
What will my resume look like?
Every resume I write is unique, original, and customized. I don’t use templates and I will add a splash of color. All resumes are optimized to perform well with applicant tracking systems (ATS). Each resume will be written to tell your story in the most compelling manner possible. Before getting started, I’ll discuss with you the optimal strategy.
What is the 30-minute complimentary strategy call?
We start things off with a brief chat to learn about your needs, and we can decide if I’m the right person to assist. If I know of someone who would be better at meeting your needs, I will refer you to them, and if I think I can help, I’ll let you know. If you decide you want to work with me, we can set up a time to move forward. If not, there’s no pressure.
What is your resume and LinkedIn process?
Once we decide to work together, we’ll start things with a 90-minute phone conversation. I’ll be asking questions about your career history to bring out more context and detail. We will also have a mini branding session where we talk about what you do best, and what makes you stand out.
Once we finish the resume, we move on to LinkedIn and a cover letter. I provide white-glove service with LinkedIn and have several options and price points depending on how much content I will create.
What is your turnaround time?
I’ll turn a resume draft around within 5-7 business days, and if you’re in a rush we can make it happen even faster. We will go through as many rounds of revisions as needed to produce a stellar document, although most of the time I achieve this within 1-2 rounds of edits.
What do you need to get started?
We start with your current resume and one or two descriptions of your ideal job. If you don’t have a resume, we can get started without it. I may have you jot down some notes and figures ahead of time, but nothing too time-consuming. I won’t ask you to fill out lengthy questionnaires or 10-page forms. I gather most of what I need from our telephone intake session. You have better things to do, and you hired me to write the resume, so I try to make this easy for you.
Do you provide job search or career coaching?
I have a complete job search system that will assist you in landing your six-figure job much faster. I provide correspondence templates, written guides, videos, and 1-on-1 live coaching to teach the latest and most effective job search methods.
